A number of large conservation organizations have been trying to save rainforests around the world, yet we continue to see the destruction of vast tracts each year. The problem with many projects is that they do not take into account the people who live on the land. They often do not have the trust of local people or the understanding of their realities.

Over 95% of the world's life forms live outside of the 4% of the earth currently set aside as parks and other protected areas. Clearly, community-based conservation is urgently needed if we are to preserve a significant portion of the world's biodiversity. The Focus Conservation Fund was created to be a leader in community-based conservation in South America and other continents.

Visit our pages and learn about the projects we create and support, in Brazil and Uganda. We are an inclusive organization, happy to partner with others to achieve our Mission. The mission of the Focus Conservation Fund is to preserve biodiversity and habitat by promoting:

  1. local community investment in the value of biodiversity;

  2. an awareness of the role of people in ecologic systems;

  3. the discovery and development of local economic opportunities in ecotourism.
